Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron Review

There’s never been a time with more options on the market for straightening or curling our hair, yet it seems that it’s never been more difficult to make a choice of which to buy. Yes, that product worked well for another person, but how do I know that it will work well with my hair? Well, Solia’s Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron is designed specifically for those of us with thick hair. Sound interesting? Read on!

What’s so special about it?

This flat iron uses ceramic tourmaline technology plates which eliminate static electricity and don’t cause tangling or pulling, unlike some other irons. This technology also heats the plates within seconds so you’ll not waste any time. In fact, you only need one or two glides to straighten your hair, depending on its thickness.

The plates are 1.25 inches in width, which is a nice compromise between the smaller and larger plates on the market. It means that if you have longer hair, you’ll finish straightening earlier than you would with smaller plates, but still be able to add the final element of flair with ease. And if you have shorter hair, you’ll still be able to straighten it without the problems you can have with larger plates.

What other features does it have?

The temperature can be adjusted between 140 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit and, unlike some irons, can be used whether your hair is dry or still damp.

There’s a swivel cord which should reduce the risk of getting tangled while allowing you ample manoeuvrability to get to your roots all around your head.

Why I love it

In my book, the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron is definitely one of the contenders for best ceramic flat iron of the year. The slightly larger plates give added efficiency while retaining precision. It works quickly and is comfortable to manage. Most of all, it provides a real solution for those of us with thick hair who have struggled for hours in front of the mirror with other irons, only to see the results fall apart after a few hours. Even the thickest hair can be straightened or curled in about half an hour using this iron!

Why I don’t love it

Some customers, while happy with their results, were only able to get real satisfaction by combining use of the Solia with other hair products. More serious (and unfortunately all-too-common with such products) are the reports of users burning their hair or their scalp. Then, there are a number of customers who claim that their iron has stopped working a few months after purchasing it.

The final word

Overall, I really the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron. I don’t think the negative aspects detract too much from the fact that it actually works for thick hair, whereas so many of its competitors aren’t so successful. Amazon reviewers rate the Solia with 4.3 stars out of a possible 5 at the moment, so it seems I’m not the only one who has a favourable opinion of this iron! I hope this review has been of use to you!
